I am married with two grown up children, Ryan and Nicole and 4 grandchildren, Esme ,Lake. Oakley and Caleb In my spare time I like to enjoy being with my family and my dog Millie, going on day trips and family holidays. I also like walking and watching TV, soaps are my favourite.
I have worked in care for over 20 years starting in home care as a carer up to care coordinator. I then moved to working with adults with learning difficulties in supported living and a day centre as deputy manager. I then moved on to work at Coventry’s Alzheimer’s Society in their day centre which is where I met Cherry.
Hi, my name is Cherry. I am married to Martin and have three children Faye, Martyn and Shane. I have 5 grandchildren Connie, Poppy, Dawson ,Kadielynn and Rafe I enjoy lots of things in my spare time however the things I enjoy most is spending time with my family, going to parks, having a picnic or spending family time at home or in the garden.
When not spending time with my family, I enjoy going for walks, gardening and reading. I have worked in the care sector for 17 years, all being in the day centre at Coventry Alzheimer’s Society. I started there as a volunteer working my way up to Deputy Day Care Support Manager which I did for 12 years. Michelle was one of the colleagues I worked with at the Day Centre, we worked together for 8 years and formed a close friendship.
When the pandemic forced the day centre to close, the Alzheimer’s Society made the decision to close the centre permanently. Throughout the pandemic Michelle and Cherry had kept in touch with the members and their families and they were upset to hear the centre was closing, they knew there was still a need for the service so decided to start their own club, and Always Me was created.
Michelle and Cherry are both passionate about their jobs and enjoy it as much as they hope the members do. The team only work in a small group as they have found this is better for the person and are able to give each individual more time and support. As Always Me grows the aim is to employ more staff as Michelle and Cherry feel it is important to have consistency and familiar faces. There are also regular volunteers who assist in the running of the centre.
